This is a great combination of a skillet and Dutch oven and has great utility as a fireplace cooking utensil. The lid is designed to hold embers to create the top heat essential to many recipes and techniques. The legs on these potjies are slightly shorter than the potjie pot legs but long enough to use on the coals and briquettes without smothering them.
The base of the "spyder" is slightly concave. Because of the legs, the potjie pots and skillet do not require a tripod (trivet) to set them on.
